If you are also planning to cultivate carrots, then we tell you some important things. For sowing of carrots, preparation of the field is necessary in advance. The field should be leveled well before sowing. For this, 2 to 3 deep plowing should be done. After each plowing, it is necessary to apply patties so that the soil becomes friable.

Digging should be done as soon as it is ready after cooking

After these procedures, mix the cow dung well in the field. At the time of field preparation, 20 to 25 tonnes of cow dung should be applied per hectare while plowing. Carrot crop requires 5 to 6 irrigations. If there is less moisture in the field at the time of sowing, then the first irrigation should be done immediately after sowing. Afterwards, irrigation every 15 to 20 days as required gives good yield.

Carrot should be excavated on time after the crop is ready. According to agricultural experts, delayed harvesting of carrots reduces the nutritional quality of carrots. Carrot becomes pale and cottony and the weight is also reduced. For this reason, digging carrots should be started as soon as they are ready.

These varieties can be cultivated

The mainly European and Asian varieties of carrot are used for cultivation in India. Chantney is a European variety. It is orange in color and matures in 75 to 90 days after sowing. It is sown in plains and produces up to 150 quintals in one hectare.

Apart from this, there is another European variety Nantis. It matures in 110 to 120 days but it cannot be sown in plains. Cultivating farmers say that on cultivating one hectare, this variety yields up to 200 quintals. Apart from these two, cultivars like Pusa Meghali, Pusa Rudhir and Chayan No 223 are also being cultivated on a large scale by the farmers.
