Every year there are many varieties of mangoes including Jardalu, Maldah, Bombay, Krishnabhog, Bharatbhog and Khilsafa. But the biggest specialty here is that Gulab Khas Mango.

The nearly 100-year-old Vrindavan garden, inhabited by the ancestors of Khagaria MP Choudhary Mehboob Ali Kaiser, has very old mango trees, which have been bearing fruit for years. Local journalist Vimlesh Bharti told us that the MP’s ancestors were very fond of fruit trees, especially mangoes.
He told that the ancestors of the MP had planted dozens of Gulabkhas trees, whose number kept on increasing. In order to keep the Gulabkhas mango tree alive in the Vrindavan garden, suitable soil was brought from distant places by bullock cart. The result of his hard work and protection is that the fragrance of Gulab Khas Mango has spread not only to his country but also to foreign countries.

Many people have taken trees from here and planted them in their fields. He told that people take the pen of the tree and plant it. If trees are planted properly, taking care of irrigation, etc., then they start bearing fruits in the next year itself.
However, he said that the scene that came in the first year should be broken. By keeping the top part of the tree trimmed, the tree becomes dense and strong. By serving these trees with a little patience, good fruits start coming in 2-4 years.

In this garden we met Gopal Singh, who has been looking after this garden for many years. He told us that there is a lot of mango production here every year and apart from the local markets, traders from outside Bihar also come and take mangoes. He told that instead of chemical fertilizers, organic manure is used here. The Gulab Khas mangoes here do not contain fiber, only pulp. It can be easily peeled and eaten.
As a message, this mango is quite famous. He told that every year the owner of the garden, MP Mehboob Ali Kaiser gets mangoes to Delhi through train and then through him mangoes are sent to many leaders including the Prime Minister.
