Kesar farming :Farmer Abdul Majeed Wani of Pampore district of Jammu and Kashmir told that his saffron production has doubled through Kesar Park. Also, the income has also doubled in a year.

Abdul Majeed Wani told that he has been cultivating saffron for the last several years. But due to the schemes of the government, the production has doubled. This has helped in increasing the income. Wani told that before the help of the government, his annual income was 90 thousand to 1 lakh rupees. But due to Saffron Park, GI tag, his income has crossed Rs 2 lakh.
Kesar farming:Let’s know what steps the government has taken regarding saffron.
Due to the growing of saffron, this process is very difficult till it is sold in the market. A lot of hard work is done behind this saffron till it reaches the cans sold in the market. In such a situation, know how it is cultivated, due to which it is very expensive.
Saffron is supplied from Jammu and Kashmir all over the world. There is a lot of these very fine quality saffron in the whole world. Due to lack of adequate facilities for the cultivation of saffron, the farmers of Kashmir used to face a lot of difficulties.
But now to overcome this shortage, a Spice Park has been set up in Pulwama, with the help of which farmers are being helped to increase the production of saffron.
With the help of the Spice Park constructed at a cost of Rs 22 crore in DUSU, Pulwama, farmers are now being helped in the collection of saffron, its packaging and maintaining better quality.
Kesar farming:E-Auction Portal for Sale of Saffron
Saffron is very expensive hence it is also called red gold. Saffron is cultivated in about 3200 hectares in Kishtwar, Srinagar, Budgam and Pampore of Jammu in India.
This time the government is going to provide e-marketing facility to the farmers so that farmers do not have to wander here and there to sell this precious crop.
The Agriculture Department of Jammu and Kashmir has launched the e-auction portal for the sale of saffron. For this, the record of farmers cultivating saffron has been made online.
Farmers will be able to sell saffron by directly contacting the mandis and will also be able to take the price online. Farmers will have the advantage that instead of middlemen, they will be able to sell their crops directly in the mandis and they will not have to pay commission. This will increase the income of the farmers.
GI tagging started
GI tagging has been started by the government to promote Kashmiri saffron under the saffron mission. During the sale of saffron, GI tagging will be mentioned in its packing.
GI tagging means that the saffron is completely pure without any adulteration. Farmers will get higher price of saffron due to GI tagging.
Seeds last for 15 years
By the way, sowing of saffron seeds has to be done only once in 15 years and flowers come in it every year. After 15 years, the seed has to be removed again and after that many more seeds are formed in each seed.
How is saffron made?
Kesar farming:No tree etc. grows in the seed of Kaiser. In this, just a flower leaves like a leaf and the pool emerges directly. Looks like a plant like garlic and onion. It takes one flower and inside a flower, 6 more leaves emerge in the middle of the leaves, which are like stamens of a flower, like a rose flower has small leaves. This plant comes up two-three inches. It has two-three leaves of saffron, which are red in color. At the same time, three leaves are of yellow color, which is of no use.
So much hard work for one gram of saffron
In such a situation, only saffron leaves have to be done in the same way from each flower. It is said that when about 160 saffron leaves are taken out, only one gram of saffron can be made from it. That is, for one gram of saffron, saffron has to be separated from many flowers, which is a lot of hard work. By the way, one gram of saffron extracted from this hard work is enough in 100 liters of milk.
Kesar farming When does farming happen?
It is cultivated in August and the process of flowering takes place only in October-November. This flowering process takes only one month. It is believed that it takes place between October 15 and November 15. At the same time, its irrigation is natural and it takes a lot of effort to extract flowers from it and the labor cost is very high. It is cultivated more in only one part of Kashmir, because there is special red colored soil, in which saffron is cultivated.
It has a good economic importance. using in different medicinal purposes.
