The good thing with this is that the yield increases after each harvest. The average production is 2 to 2.5 tonnes per hectare in the first rainfall. In subsequent years the production increases to 4 to 5 tonnes per hectare.

The production of dry leaves of Stevia per year is up to 3.5 tonnes in one hectare. At present, the rate of stevia leaves in the market is Rs 100 to 120 per kg. Farmers cultivating Stevia are advised to irrigate immediately after planting. After this, irrigation is necessary after an interval of three to five days till the establishment of plants. After this, irrigation can be done once a week till the onset of monsoon. During the summer season, frequent irrigation is required to maintain the moisture content of the soil.
