It is a very effective medicine and gets ready in 6 months. Its seeds are sown in the month of April. Milk thistle is a bushy plant and its length is about 3 feet. This plant bears flowers and the seeds prepared inside the flower are used to make medicine. Its leaves are also used in making Ayurvedic medicine.
Sowing should be done carefully
Milk thistle cultivation does not require much water. Efforts have been going on since the last decade to take the cultivation of milk thistle to the common farmers. The trial of growing this medicinal plant in my herbal guide has been completely successful. Milk thistle is still a new crop for Indian farmers. However, continuous efforts are being made to make this information available to the farmers.
The flowers and seeds of milk thistle are used to treat liver and bile ducts. Apart from this, it is also beneficial for many types of health benefits.
Seed sowing of milk thistle should be done with care. Loamy soil is considered most suitable for the cultivation of milk thistle plant. Almost half of the country’s agriculture is done on alluvial soil. Alluvial soil is the soil which is brought by the rivers. Nitrogen and potash content is low in this soil. But the good thing is that milk thistle can also be grown in alluvial soil.
Growing popularity, government exports
Milk thistle can also be grown in black soil and red soil. But it has to be kept in mind that there should be adequate drainage facility in the field. Before sowing, double plowing of the field is necessary. Then the field is leveled by running the pata. It is necessary to keep the field free from weeds.
The middle of the milk thistle should be sown at a depth of about half an inch in the prepared field. Before sowing, a balanced amount of manure with soil should be mixed well for germination. Milk thistle seeds should be planted in groups of three to four seeds. After sowing water sprinkling through fountain is fine.
Milk thistle takes 10 to 12 days to germinate. You can also grow it in pots at home. Farmers cultivating milk thistle say that its demand and popularity is increasing a lot and India is exporting it. If you have land with light soil, then it must be cultivated. This plant is a way to get more profit in less cost.
